About the Teacher

My History

I am originally from a very small farming community called Reese. I graduated from high school in 1999 with ninety-eight other classmates. In April 2003, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Major in Elementary Education. My minors included Science (6th-8th grade), Math (6th-8th grade), Physical Education (Kindergarten-8th grade), and Early Childhood. In 2008, I completed a Masters's in Educational Technology from Western.

Living for four years in Kalamazoo made me fall in love with the west side of the state. Looking for a job near Lake Michigan was one of the best decisions that I have made so far. The 2023-2024 school year marks my 21st year teaching in Coloma.

Outside of the Classroom Activities

The need to travel and see the world is a big part of me. Every year since I have been out of college, I use my summer to travel. Over the last couple of summers, I have traveled throughout the United States and visited several of our National Parks. I have also had the ability to backpack through Europe for two months.  It was the most exciting experience of my life. I have been to over twenty countries located on three different continents. One day my goal is to make it to Australia. During my trips, I really have gotten into digital photography. If I were forced to have a job outside of education, I would be interested in traveling the world and taking pictures for National Geographic.

My spring is spent on the softball fields. In 2018 the Varsity team won the State Championship, which will be an experience that will stick with me forever.
